STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Syracuse Hillel offers a wide variety of student leadership opportunities including our HJSU Executive Board and Community Engagement Interns. Hillel is also home to a number of umbrella organizations including: Oy Capella and Challah for Hunger. Hillel also offers a number of paid internship opportunities such as learning fellowship interns, recruitment interns for Birthright, and work study positions. For more information about available student leadership opportunities, contact Jared Stern.
HJSU (Hillel Jewish Student Union)
Hillel's student leadership consists of committed students from various backgrounds. HJSU works together to offer exceptional programs and opportunities for their fellow students on campus.
Furthermore, the HJSU President holds a position on Syracuse Hillel's Board of Governors, providing invaluable experience working alongside professionals and gaining insights into board operations. This connection enhances leadership skills and fosters collaboration within the community.

CEI (Community Engagement Interns)
Each Intern is responsible for fostering connections with Jewish students on campus. As valuable resources for meaningful opportunities, the engagement interns aim to promote Jewish values through these relationships.
Interns work to grasp students' interests, passions, and aspirations, linking them to opportunities that resonate with them. They organize initiatives that they deem relevant to Jewish culture, facilitate peer interactions, and maintain authentic, comfortable follow-ups.

Oy Cappella
Oy Caps is Syracuse University's vibrant co-ed Jewish a cappella group, bringing together a diverse range of musical styles. They perform contemporary songs by modern Jewish artists and writers, including popular names like Matisyahu, Maroon 5, Pink, and many others, while also celebrating their heritage with traditional Hebrew songs. With their unique blend of contemporary and traditional music, Oy Caps captivates audiences and spreads joy through their performances.

Challah for Hunger
Syracuse Hillel’s chapter of Challah for Hunger bakes delicious challah from scratch periodically throughout the academic year. Our proceeds are donated directly to Mazon, an organization fighting to end hunger locally and nationally.

Interested in getting involved? Our monthly bakes are posted to our Instagram @syracusehillel and announced in our newsletter. Reach out to one of our Fellows for more information and visit our campus page on Mazon to watch our fundraiser grow!
